I like Howard he is very honest and helpful. Keep in mind his is a very technical service that is not so simple. So many variables to make a door. I'm happy with capital.

I contacted 2 companies for estimates, Capitol was 1st, Universal and another that was not helpful at all so I won't even name them. Capitol Fire door did a good job, however, I heed warning. When I 1st called to set up an appointment, it was over a week before they came out, and they only set up the appointment because I had to follow up an email and a previous phone call to get them here.

After the consultation, Clint was very knowledgeable and let me know about the automatic door sweep and the locks and answered all my questions about my particular door situation. However, I did not get an estimate until I called and asked for it to be sent to me. When receiving my 1st estimate I saw some things were missing on the proposal so I addressed it in an email. However, AGAIN, I had to call because no reply.

We talked over some of the things. I needed a couple of other things so I called back (yes this may sound extra) but I am a new homeowner who doesn't know much about fireproof doors and wanted to make sure there were NO issues when the door arrived and this is not a cheap investment. I decided to go with Captiol against a few early flags because they were ever so slightly cheaper than Universal (Universal had awesome customer service and amazing communication, but they were more expensive, when I let them know they were slightly more expensive they countered with a lower estimate, but I had already sent my information to Capitol) I decided to go with Captiol.

There were some issues with the door installation and I made it clear there would be no patch work accepted. Their associate did his thing. BUT, the top lock keys to the door were "not given to them". So I would have to get them the next day. But I didn't get them then, because per emails, my keys were lost (to a brand new door with a brand new lock).

So I would have to take some more time off work to have the top lock replaced with keys that they had. So I took the time off of work, only to have a missed appointment by 2.5 hours by Capitol. And get this-- the lock did not have to be replaced, they had my keys. So something that took 2.5 hours of my work day could have been an easy -uninterrupting exchange of keys.

During the time of the 2.5 hour late appointment I was given wild information: "he will be there in 20" 20 minutes turned to 40, "He is waiting for a door for another job" "he is stuck in traffic" 40 minutes turned to 1.5 hours, no communication. 2.5 hours later "he is looking for parking". So would I recommend this company? Maybe, yeah, if you are willing and ready to be persistent, clear, concise and relentless about initiating all communication.

This company did not give me a small discount for the travel and wasted time of that appointment, I find that bad business. My next door neighbor likes my door, wants to replace his, will I give him Capitol Fire Door or Universal Fireproof Door. Probably the latter.

Highly unethical company that does not pay their bills. Avoid them if you are considering selling to them or using their services. They buy products online, have them shipped to their place of business, and then claim fraud with their credit card company. What a bunch of NYC dirtbags.
