One of the worst installs i have ever seen. Was asked by a friend to help with with their brand new door that wouldn't open freely. Figured it may need a quick lock adjustment. As I approached the door I noticed large gaps at the hinge and one side was a 1/4 higher than the other. I could tell right away the frame was out of plumb and not shimmed properly (The foundation of a trouble free door).

I opened the door and was going to try and tighend the hinge screws to raise the door. I found the door (Hurricane impact door) had been installed with short interior 1/2 inch screws (See Pictures). Laughing at this sad door, I put some weight on the door leaf and the whole door leaf pulled free of the hinges. 2 hours later after replacing all of the screws with proper 1 /1/4 and some long ones to hold the door to the structure.

Then shimming the hinges to make up for the very poor frame install the door now opens and closes properly. I also found the threshold to be loose and making a crunchy noise, telling me the threshold probably has no caulk under it. Note: the door itself is a very nice Hurricane door. But the installation team needs to go back to carpentry 101. I would not recommend them at all. I would recommend Newman, Storm Team or even Home Depot for impact rated front doors.
