Omaha Door & Window Omaha Door Company, as it was originally called, was started in 1959 by Leo Murnan and Joe Nothomb. Leo came back from a tour of the Pacific Ocean, sponsored by the U.S. Navy, in 1945. He worked at Murnan Rug and went to school at Creighton University. After graduation Leo went to work for O'Keefe Elevator Co. One day, O'Keefe's announced that they were buying the local Overhead Door franchise as the current ownership had just gone broke. They transferred the inventory along with a shop man named Joe Nothomb. Selling doors is a rough and tumble kind of business, with a lot of competition and low markups. The day finally came when O'Keefe threw in the towel on their door division. They sold their franchise to a buyer in Lincoln, Nebraska. Most of the employees left, but Leo and Joe stayed to help liquidate the inventory. The inventory was reduced to the point that all that was left was an old red truck and a few remaining parts. In the mean time, Leo and Joe decided that perhaps they could start their own company.

They went back to Dennis O'Keefe and proposed to help O'Keefe eliminate the remaining inventory and the truck if Dennis would co-sign a start up loan. Dennis agreed and Leo and Joe were ready to start selling doors.

Omaha Door was open for business in November of 1959, in a small building in South Omaha, at 36th and "T" Streets. The first few years, they concentrated on selling garage doors and garage door openers. A basic wood panel residential door sold for $73.95 installed. The company grew and had 30 employees by the late 1960's. Somewhere in this period the name was changed to Omaha Door & Glass as the company began installing patio doors and doing small glass jobs. The 1970's showed increased growth. The Hollow Metal Department was added in 1976 to sell commercial walk thru doors. In 1979 the Service Department was added to make sure the customers' needs were quickly addressed. As the company grew, the warehouse became overcrowded. Two additions were added to the original warehouse. It soon became apparent that no more additions could be added to due to lack of land. A new building was built at 4665 "G" St. and opened in 1980 keeping its South Omaha Roots. As soon as the new location was finished, a recession hit the construction business. It was during this time that the Window Department was added in 1981 to expand our product lines. At the time that windows were introduced, Omaha Door & Glass officially changed its name to Omaha Door & Window

.In the late 1970's Leo's partner, Joe Nothomb, retired and sold his shares to Leo. Meanwhile, Leo's family grew to 8 children, which included four sons and four daughters. One by one all four boys and one daughter came back to work full time after getting their college education. That's when the company really started to move. As Omaha Door and Window continued to expand in the 1980's, loading dock equipment was added, to compliment the commercial door business. In the 1990's, the Siding Department was added. In 1991, due to the concern of consolidation of garage door companies nationwide, Omaha Door and Window became a shareholder in Mid America Door Company in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Mid America Door manufactures both residential and commercial garage doors.

Fantastic repair service. We need a new garage door opener for our old heavy wood door. Rob evaluated the situation and installed a nice new opener that works like a charm. Fast, friendly service with a reasonable price.

We are very pleased with our purchase of new windows for our house from Omaha Door and Window. Tony is very knowledgeable about the products available. He directed us to the right choice to suit our needs and the price was right. Justin and Buck did a great job on the installation. The installation was done precisely and professionally. The job took three days and they cleaned up well after each day. They were courteous and respectful. We definitely recommend ODW.

Kurt came out on a Saturday morning and made quick work of repairing my garage door so we could go about our plans for the rest of the day. He gave us some great advice on maintenance and operating the garage doors when the power goes out. Highly recommended!

Ordered a replacement for a damaged door trim. Was told the part might take a long time to arrive, but it did not. The Service Tech was courteous and trustworthy, as I was allowed to pay him and go back to work while he finished the job. We have hired ODW for a number of projects.

Dan spent quite a bit of time explaining the process of replacing our entry door and kitchen door as well as the associated storm doors. With the supply issues associated with Covid we were looking at 6-10 weeks before installation. I had a bit of sticker shock with the estimate but when I saw what went into the lead paint abatement and the process of installing everything along with the quality of doors I think it was well worth having ODW do the job. The installers were professional and courteous. It is amazing how much the new doors reduced the noise from the street and helped with keeping the house warmer.

Have used Omaha Door and Window for years and always have had good luck with their service. Recently needed some hinge repair and the only holdup was that they were very busy and took a few days to get them here. Overall very happy with their repair and service and would recommend them.

Let me start by saying DO NOT use Omaha Door & Window for garage doors. I've had a terrible experience with these overpriced Rainer garage doors I purchased. and tried to return since the day they were installed. Pretty much a "bait and switch" between what I ordered and what was installed. When I told them I was not happy with the quality, they told me the doors were a "custom order" and there was nothing they could do.

The doors were supposed to be black however the doors they installed had cheap brown plastic frames around the glass panels. Plus the inside of the doors were white. The Rainer rep came to look at the doors and agreed the window and door colors are different, yet Omaha Door & Window has refused to make any concessions or any attempt to rectify the situation.

Terrible customer service. If you are thinking about using ODW, think again. Make sure you shop around because I guarantee you will find better quality doors at a lower price elsewhere. So frustrating!

Rob repaired by garage door very quickly, repairing a stripped gear. He found the root of the cause which was door spring that needed to be adjusted. Rob and Omaha Door have my highest recommendations!

Had someone come out to do an estimate on door repair, after multiple phone calls to the business could not get ahold of them to get the estimate a week later. I just kept being redirected to a voicemail.

Shawn, Sales, and Allen and Dana, installers were wonderful to work with. I love my new door; it looks great in my home. Allen went above and beyond; looking at and adjusting another door while he was here. Excellent customer service. Thank you!

Chris and JH did a super job of installing my new patio door from Omaha Door and Window! They were quick and efficient and were also careful about cleaning up after themselves. They even left the inside door trim untouched so I didn't have to replace it. They explained the safety features and showed me how everything worked. I've had other windows in my home replaced by this company and would highly recommend them.

I LOVE my new windows & patio door from Omaha Door & Window! We have used them in the past for a garage door install. The whole process of purchasing such big items for my house made me a little nervous, but with the help of the salesman I got the exactly what I was looking for. The installation crew was top notch, by being there on a timely manner, very professional team, cleaned up, and being very helpful in answering all of my husband's questions while doing the install. I would recommend Omaha Door & Window to anyone who is looking for great quality products & install and excellent customer service.

Carl, Miguel, and Kelly were great to work with. Carl kept me updated on the status of the garage doors I had ordered. Kelly and Muguel did a great job on installing my garage doors and openers they took pride in there work and made sure everything worked good. They helped me set up my IQ garage door app. I would recommend them to anyone needing garage doors.

I had a sales rep come out and quote me. He checkedd stock and said it would be in, in three weeks and a deposit would be needed to order them. Three weeks later, the panels are not in stock and the price more then doubled for replacements. It seems that the field workers and offfice people are not on the same page, or even reading from the same book.

I would give zero stars if possible. Paid for windows in September 2019 and was quoted 4-6 weeks. 99% sure they forgot about me, because all of the contact was ME reaching out to THEM for updates. Fast forward to what is now February, and they just cancelled their 2nd installation appointment on me. I will be charging back / disputing the payment we made in September and plan on NEVER doing business with this company.

I would not recommend a replacement contract with a firm that fails to preform quality work, fails to repair to its work, fails to use quality caulk, fails to caulk around it's work when wrapping window frames and fails to take responsibility for the poor workmanship of the independent contractors they hire. There you have it, a five F company with poor and condense ding customer service.

We called to get a service call scheduled and were able to set up an appointment between 9 and 1pm on a Saturday. After waiting until 12:30pm to call and check on when the service person may arrive, I was assured I was the next stop on his list. Nope. they never showed up. When I called them to inquire about it on Monday they told me they had never had me in the system. Basically they didn't know who I was. Very dissapointed in what I thought was reputable company. Beware.

My experience with the salesman was great, but the process was horrible! We ordered our windows in summer expecting they would be there by the time our daughter was born in late January! They told us 12 weeks it ended up being 5 months! They acted like it wasn't a big deal! Then out of all the windows our daughters was late. Then their were issues with the screens.

The week before our daughter was due they were installing it! As soon as they finally installed it they were asking for their money. One manager told us they would give a discount for all the issue and that never happened! They couldn't call and be nice about all the issues when you spend $30,000 on windows, but they had no issues calling and asking for their money! Bad experience! I would not recommend them!

This was a very frustrating process for us. Our garage door broke, and they sent a new employee to evaluate and determine the issue, then they ordered parts for the fix. Sent a different employee out to fix 3 days later, and we were advised the wrong parts were ordered and needed to come back. A third person was sent the final time, diagnosed it differently than the other two (we got a separate story each time as well as cost) and were told we were overcharged for what needed to be done to fix our problem. Yes the door ended up being fixed.but according to the last employee, we paid significantly more than we needed.

I had Omaha Door and Window put in a new garage door on my house. It was a cold snowy day, I thought they might cancel and I would have to reschedule the appointment, but no. they came and put it in and did a great job. I'm so happy with it! it looks so much better. And a very reasonable price. I would definitely recomend them.

Very unhappy with their service. First time called, a representative says the opener I had is too old and they can only replace them. I was on something else so did not order it. Months later, I called, they said they can come and try to fix. They charge $87 regardless, plus labor and parts. I thought they can fix it. However, the man came and just listened for less than 10 seconds and told me I need to replace the whole opener.

And I need to pay $87 because he showed up! What?! Why not just tell me over phone that I need just buy a new opener? Plus, a new opener costs only less than $200. I paid them $87 for less than 3 minutes and just get an advice: replace it. What I learned from this is when you just have a mechanical part, remoter, or sensor issue, go do some research yourself. You should be able to fix it yourself with much less cost. I do not like their greedy business model: rip you in no time.

I ordered a new storm door for my back porch the same week I closed on my house early November. The existing door didn't close well and had a doggy dog cut into it, one of my new neighbors had mentioned raccoons in her yard, so I didn't want them coming on to the porch. The salesman was very upfront that it would take a little longer than normal to get because they were behind with all the storm damage this past summer and fall.

He pointed to one and only one door option saying this would work for the space. My door finally arrived and was install Feb 2. The installer said something like I don't know why they sold you this door, it's not the right type of door for this opening. Which for $750 pissed me off. He went to work, getting it installed complaining about the cold, and the fact that the door was at the top of the steps (definitely something that the salesman had to have noticed).

He finished and showed me where he had to remove the edging around my siding and a header above the door. Then handed me the balance. I asked about finishing the edging, 'oh I can't do that'. I said to invoice me for the bill and called the office to say that edging was removed and not replaced. When would someone be out to finish? She scheduled the same guy to come back, and I was there when they came.

There was snow on the ground, and he would need space for his saw, to cut the edging, could they come back again another day. The same gentleman that installed the door said: "I should have done this when I was here, but I didn't have the material". I offered to move my car from the garage to the street so they could set up their tools in there and work out of the snow and cold.

Apparently not good enough, wanted to come back another day. Was rescheduled again. The next day it was scheduled was snow, so the office called to move the appointment again. So today 25 days after the install, they are at my house doing the finishing work since it is outside, and I am at work. He called to tell me they were there, that they would "do their best, but it wasn't going to look good".

I will withhold judgment on how it looks until I go home. However, at this point, I believe I could have gotten a door at a home improvement store and had a handyman install it for a lot less and in a quicker time frame. I originally chose ODW because this was on the outside on of my house and I wanted it done professionally. What a joke.

I called the service department because my garage door would only open 8 or 10 inches, unless I held the button down. There were no trouble shooting questions. They sent out a service technician. He was very pleasant and helpful. All he did was unplug the machine, wait a few seconds and plugged it back in. Once he did this the opener worked. He lubricated the hinges and charged me $79.

I feel foolish for paying $79 for something that someone could have explained to me over the phone. The service technician was great, very professional. But I feel the person I talked to on the phone failed me in this case.

First, be prepared for sticker shock. I thought my residential door wasn't really going to be that special.but apparently it's made is because for a simple door I was quoted $1800.00. Yes, you read that right. So, then get ready for the bait and switch.after SIX weeks, the sales manager called and said that the size of the door was so special that they would have to make it in fiberglass or something.and I would have to shell out another $300 for the door.

I told him where to put it and he finally agreed to "kindly" not charge me extra for my incredible door. Now it's been 3 months since I placed the order and I called and the scheduler said that they were still months out because June was so rainy. REALLY! For a stinkin' door. Next time I use the big box stores.same door.faster service.better experience. How these people win Best Door company in Omaha every year baffles me.

I had these guys come out to fix my garage door. When the repair man showed up I showed him that the spring broke AND that the two cables on either side of the door were broken, AND that the bottom wheel fell off our door. He fixed the spring and that is fine, however, he just threw the wheel back in assuming that it would be fine and did not address the cables.

So 10 days after I paid $165 for them to fix what I thought was the whole problem I am stuck with an inoperable garage door again and they won't come back out to fix it without charging us again. Terrible service. Won't help us out. Taking business elsewhere.

TERRIBLE SERVICE! OUTRAGEOUS PRICING! NO WARRANTY! BIGGEST RIP-OFF Company I have ever worked with! We have lived in our BRAND NEW CONSTRUCTION home 3 weeks. Garage door blows in. Quoted us 3 different outrageous prices to fix it. Owner has NEVER contacted me. Just hides behind his storm damage story! No one in our neighborhood had storm damage! Just poor installation and low quality materials. Did offer us an upgrade to a stronger door at a larger price! JUST DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT! STORM PRICE-GOUGING!

I've called ODW a number of times when my garage door and/or opener needed adjustment, and I've always been very satisfied with their service. When my house was burglarized recently by breaking out my back door "security" window (yeah, right), ODW had an estimator and a tech to secure the door at my house the same day I called. My new back door was installed by the end of the week. The door is beautiful and was expertly installed. I can't say enough good things about this company. I highly recommend them and will continue to call them for service.

Mike called before he arrived. Arrived on time and got right to work fixing our garage door that "someone" (who was distracted, with a car full of kids, a bouncy puppy, and a list errands in front of her to get done that day, before heading off to work) accidentally backed up in to. Mike was professional and had a good sense of humor. He fixed the problem quickly!

Our 25 year old garage door broke and instead of paying for a $300 fix we decided to upgrade to an entirely new door. I called several highly rated garage door companies, based upon Yelp reviews, and Omaha door and window is the only one who called me back. Their sales team was very knowledgable and helpful in picking out a design. I knock them down a star because they told us he job would be done in 4-6 weeks but it wasn't done until just over 7 weeks.

The installer was a contractor and not an actual employee of Omaha door and window, but he was helpful and the job was done in 2 hours. We are very happy with the end result.

We've chosen Omaha Door & Window to incrementally replace the original windows (and patio door) on our house, which is 17 years old. So far, they've replaced the patio door and the windows in two bedrooms and our master bathroom. Our sales associate, Chris, is very professional, and explains the process and options without pressuring into something we don't need.

Their installers have also been very professional and fast at removal and replacement. ODW's pricing is fair as well. We have a few windows left in our home to replace, and we expect that ODW will maintain a good working relationship with us throughout each step.

We had a garage door opener and keypad installed this summer. We had to have a custom system put in because of a cross beam in the garage and they were so helpful and quick. The keypad and laser system are great and there are additional measures in place to keep the door from closing if someone should be in the way. Overall, excellent service.

Very impressed! My husband was deployed, my garage broke and I didn't know what was wrong with it. I called and they explained what they thought was wrong, gave me a quote and came the next day. Called me before they came and gave me a 10% military discount!

I hired their services to fix a broken overhead garage door, and from start to finish, they were fantastic: The first person I contacted on the phone was friendly and efficient. He gave me a quote for the repair over the phone, took my phone number, and though he couldn't give me an exact time, he told me the repairman would call me before he came over. That's exactly how it worked.

The repairman (Gary) called me, reached my house about 15 minutes later, fixed my problem (and another minor issue with the door), and charged me exactly what they quoted me. Gary also gave me some good advice regarding some questions I had about replacing my external keypad. Friendly, efficient, skilled, and reasonably priced family-owned business. What more could I have hoped for?

I don't often do this, but I'm a first time customer and MUST share my awesome experience with your company today. Tim B. came to my home to look at a broken door. Was very honest with me about what he could and couldn't do. When I called him back an hour later and asked about pricing for doors, he offered to come back to my home, and see if they could do a repair on the existing door, since the cost of a replacement is not currently in my budget. He and Glen showed up, and within an hour had me back on track ... LITERALLY. I will be back when I need new doors and windows. Signed --- a VERY satisfied customer!!!

Omaha Door & Window replaced all of our windows, and we have a lot of them, installed a sliding glass door and replaced our siding. We are very happy with the quality of both their work and the products they used. Their team workers were also very knowledgeable and helped us with decisions during the installs. I highly recommend them and would use them again.
