The Wilhelm family began operations in the "Uptown District" of Lisbon avenue in 1945 when Lawrence Wilhelm opened his grocery store on the corner of 52nd and Lisbon. Through an odd unfolding of events in the late 1950's Lawrence began selling used windows and doors right at the grocery store. Demand for this new "grocery" line, became so popular that in 1961 he closed the grocery store and started Lisbon Storm Screen and Door Company. In 1970 the store incorporated under its current name Lisbon Storm, Screen and Door Inc.
